An unusual victorian cloak which I am told is of German/Austrian origin, it is traditional in style With a deep caped collar, decorative braid and fastenings The cloak is made from a silky lightweight wool with a jacquard woven swirl repeat pattern, and is lined with a heavy blanket wool, there is a cotton partial lining around the yoke
The collar is caped to below the shoulders and tightly ruched. There are decorative ruched lines down the front edges and along the hem
There are three metal clasps with chains to fasten, and a substantial hook and eye at the neck.
Condition is very good and the cloak is completely wearable, it is strong overall. There are a few small moth holes to the wool lining and a couple of light marks. There is one tear in the outer fabric which has been repaired and isn’t that apparent. If you lift the collar there is some light wear to the backing of the caped collar but this is not seen unless lifted
