Framed 19th century fine needle wool work tapestry of a lady holding a book in front of a religious building. She is wearing a cross & chain and historic clothing. The chain sewing may be silk as it has a slight sheen which does stand out in certain angles giving it a golden appearance. The colours are strong and the needlework very fine, petit point, there are no visible signs of damage. Within an old dark oak frame with gilt slips, the glass has some slight imperfections and air bubbles which should be expected with old glass. Some of the backing fabric is visible on the back of the frame and there is framing tape around the joints. There is a white cord attached to the hanging loops for hanging on the wall. And there is an old frame makers label to the back board

Overall framed dimensions 37 cm wide by 46 cm high approximately 22 mm deep not including hanging rings of 10 mm deep

Visible needlework 353 mm x 262 mm

The picture weighs approximately 1360g unpacked
